In this document you will find useful information if you're planing to install linux on this notebook (HP Pavilion dv6220la), like where to find drivers, how to configure it and some useful software. This information will be constantly upgraded and if you find interesting stuff, please let me know so I can add it here.
The installation of Debian has no problems at all, but when the system tries to boot it will hald. It stops because it loads an option of Intel processors that we must turn off due the fact we own an AMD processor. In order to do that:
1.- Reboot the system and wait for the grub to load.
2.- Select debian on the grub menu and press "e". It will take you to another screen.
3.- Select the kernel line and press "e" again. You will now be able to edit.
4.- Add " noapic nolapic" to the end of the line and press "b" to boot.
The best solution for getting the driver working correctly is to use ndiswrapper. This application uses windows drivers of wireless cards and put them to work on linux. Its important to say that not all drivers will work as expected for this notebook, so i recommend you to download the driver from this page:
